Use Cheetham Hill Road and the Manchester Fort area to practise reading several hazards at once. The important skill is not speed; it is keeping a usable view, protecting vulnerable road users and choosing a safe gap without rushing.
Practise these skills
- Passing parked vehicles while keeping a safe clearance and planning for oncoming traffic.
- Bus-lane signs, pedestrian crossings and side-road emerging observations.
- Short independent-driving sections where the next instruction is easy to miss in traffic.
On the day
Do not judge your readiness by how quiet the first ten minutes feel. Urban tests reward steady observation and safe progress, not squeezing through every gap.

Our instructors use the local road pattern as a teaching plan, not a promise of a fixed examiner route. DVSA chooses the route on the day, so the goal is to make you confident on the decisions that repeat across the area.
